Fanboyphilosopher, I'd like to say something about illustrations you made for the project. First, the size of illustrations. Sometimes it is too small for the project. For example, pics of disc-headed shark and Japanese river horse. Can you reload these pics in better quality? Second, on Japanese river horse. In description there is an information about its size - up to 40 cm long. Compared to the aquatic plant you placed to the picture, it seems rather small. Is it better to redraw this image? Third, on spiny hypotenuse fish. The border between coloration of back and sides is too expressed. Maybe, it would be better to make it smoother. And about spots. In description, when I mean "spots", I think they must be larger in size and lesser in number. And on disk-headed shark. Its eyes must be placed wider on head, pointed to sides. I hope these notes may help you in work. If you have any more questions, just ask.

So, it's much better. But as for river horse, the actual picture makes a feeling of small fish compared to aquatic plant leaves. Usually aquatic plants with long stems have smaller leaves, that's why such illusion takes place.

It looks like the older, less accurate versions were those put on the site. I would've posted the newer versions in the main illustration section, but I had the flu and was too tired to bother with translating. Oh well.

Oh, I wish you to recover as soon as you can. I know what a bad thing it can be - some years ago I spent 3 weeks in hospital having flu, and once had a pneumonia also. Do not hasten, think about your owh health first. There are some other things to work at them. And, of course, if you have any questions on project, just ask.

Thank you for featuring my drawings and darkening those which needed to be. However, I did not see the worm-tailed python on the site or Tatarinov's crabstork. Also, the index picture for the wedgehead is mistakenly the stream elephant shrew.
Thank you very very much, dear friends, for your work!
Guys, maybe you can also draw animals? The project needs artists. Previously, the project had many good artists who perfectly illustrated the Neocene world. But now, unfortunately, there are very few of them left and they rarely appear on the forum. Maybe you would like to try to illustrate some animal or plant or fungus? You can draw with paints or pencils on paper or with a stylus on a tablet computer, and you can also do illustrations in Photoshop or in some other way.

Hey, hold it! I am an artist as well and I'm still here!
And I surely agree with wovoka about illustrations.

Unfortunately I can only do some silly sketches, nothing profissional. Perhaps we could divulge the project in sites and forums of Speculative evolution and of art. For example, the Neocene project have a page in the Deviantart, we could try to make it seem more active and ask if there is artists that want to participate. We could also talk about the Neocene project in places such as in wikis about Speculative Evolution and the Speculative Evolution Forum. There is the Tumblr too, perhaps some artists there could be interested in participate.
Don't worry, the project does not focus on professional art, it already has many non-professional illustrations - see my and Lambert's pictures. I make them from pre-existing photos or drawings of real organisms in Photoshop, so did Lambert before he left.

JOrnitho, any way to popularize the project is welcome.
In general, the project has been developing since 2004, even Douglas Dixon himself knows about it. And there is a page on the deviantart https://www.deviantart.com/neocene-project/gallery/27202723/featured and before a lot of really good artists from all the world participated in it. The project was very popular. But over time, one by one, they left the project, only a few appear once or twice a year.
Perhaps someone could make a page in the Tumblr or other type of blog, where could be posted some informations about the Neocene project. Most of it could be short descriptions and resumes of chapters, to try to catch the interest of the people and direct them to the main site. I saw some time ago the tumblr of a person showing his project of Speculative evolution and I also think that this type of site would help attract more english speaking people.
